The University of Notre Dame reviewed 13,711 Restrictive Early Action (REA) applications for the Class of 2030, an increase of 6 percent from last year’s total of 12,917. A total of 1,617 applicants (12%) were admitted during this cycle, each of them representing impressive academic preparation and a commitment to Notre Dame’s mission as a Catholic research university. An additional 2,608 applicants (19% of total REA applicants) were deferred for reconsideration in the spring.
Decisions were released to applicants on Tuesday, December 16, at 6:42 p.m. ET—honoring the University’s founding year of 1842.
“We are thrilled to welcome this group of admitted students to the Notre Dame family,” says Vice President for Undergraduate Enrollment Micki Kidder. “Not only are they extremely talented academically, but they exemplify the University’s distinct Catholic mission as leaders driven to apply their skills and knowledge to advancing the greater good.”
Kidder also commented on the University’s gratitude for strategic partners working with many of these admitted students, noting that “Notre Dame is excited to continue advancing strategic partnerships with QuestBridge, the STARS College Network, the Cristo Rey Network, and many other schools and community based organizations who are investing in the hearts and minds of first-generation, rural, and low-income students. We are grateful to the many educators and dedicated professionals who share a deep and enduring commitment to educational access and investing in the academic preparation, formation, and future success of impressive young leaders.”
In its second cycle since announcing no loan financial aid offers and need-blind review of all applications, the REA applicant pool reflects citizenship and high school addresses from 145 countries. Included are applications from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Admitted students who submitted their financial aid applications by the priority submission date received their financial aid offers at the time of their admissions decisions, underscoring the University's commitment to ensuring that a Notre Dame education is affordable to all admitted students.
The review of Regular Decision applications is underway. The University looks forward to welcoming admitted students and their families to The Rally: Admitted Student Days on April 19–20, 2026. More information about the enrolled Class of 2030 will be released in late August 2026.
